Master Velazquez Tae Kwon Do Institute (MVTKD) was founded in 2004 by Master Philippe A. Velazquez and his wife, Roxana Fernandez. The school now has over 100 active students ranging in ages from 3 to adults. The school was selected as a Top 10 school two consecutive years (2005 & 2006), and won back-to-back State, National and World Championships from 2007 to 2014. Master Velazquez’s students have won multiple State, National and World Martial Arts Championships, including the Junior National Martial Arts Championships and Tiger Claw Best of the Best, held annually at the Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando Florida.
At MVTKD, students receive training from Master Velazquez and his certified instructors, who were trained by him to be professional, courteous, friendly and expert instructors. Our goal is to know the specific needs of each student so we can help them become the best they can be, both physically and mentally.

Master Velazquez Tae Kwon Do Institute (MVTKD) has designed a system that allows students to develop their skills in a rewarding, fun and effective. Students learn speed, flexibility, balance, strength and confidence with each new belt. Each step brings them closer to the ultimate goal in Martial Arts: becoming a Black Belt.
All students begin with a white belt. They then earn four colored stripes for that belt level, representing combinations, kicks, forms and sparring. Once they have earned all four stripes, the students are tested in order to be promoted to the next rank. Students who pass are invited to a special Graduation Ceremony, which is usually held the last Friday of the month.
BELT RANK PROGRESSION
White • Gold • Orange • Green • Purple • Blue • Red • Brown • Red & Black • Black
Promotions to the next rank typically take 2-3 months. Once a student earns “Red & Black”, he or she will train 6-12 months in order to be tested for the rank of 1st Dan Black Belt.
